Baltimore, MD – On February 21, 2024 Best Friend’s Furever Dogversity Trainers Molly O’Hanlon, Catalina Chao, and Danielle Nagelvort, served as guest lectures at the University of Maryland College Park. Over 60 students from ANSC 250 Companion Animal Course learned about

the benefits of training your dog and were given a hands-on training experience outside. Students training to be future vets, dog trainers, and business owners were ecstatic to learn more about Dogversity, which is separate from Best Friends Furever’s Boarding and Daycare services.

Dogversity has dog training programs that are highly customizable to individual dogs, their families, and their goals. Our trainers assess each dog and develop a curriculum that will help dog parents achieve their goals. Our BFFE trainers highlighted our mission, values, misconceptions on dog socializing, and the benefits of training your dog.

Benefits of Training your Dog

  • Enhanced bond and companionship
  • Improved social interactions
  • Easier integration into daily life
  • Greater control and safety
  • Reduced stress and behavioral issues

UMD students quickly grasped BFFE’s presentation and learned prompt but effective commands that help dogs feel at ease with them and with others. Molly, a Kennelwood Academy graduate, taught basic French commands to eager students to add some humor. Cat, explained the importance of each command, with several doggy training instructions with her pup, Gracie. Dani, another Kennelwood Academy graduate, ensured all students participated and had a takeaway from her training session.

Professor Kristina Pelham May, an instructor for ANSC 250 Companion Animal Course, saw the impact BFFE trainer had on her class. “A huge part of this class is experiential learning and our friends from Best Friends Fur Ever came with their dogs to help our students have an interactive experience with dogs which was super beneficial to their future careers in the world of companion animal care.”

Dogs are some of the most amazing creatures and we owe it to them to give them a fulfilling life. Training is an avenue in which BFFE can help doggy parents meet their needs and that’s going to look different from dog to dog.
